Who We Are

Arlyn Kantz, M.Ed., Certified Autism Interventionist, completed her masters and certification at the University of North Texas in 2005. She was first trained to work with profoundly handicapped and troubled children as a counselor in a residential care facility. Upon her own child's diagnosis, Arlyn dedicated herself to studying theories and treatments in an effort to further her son's ability to communicate and found that music accelerated his learning immensely. She spends several hours a week at Hope Center for Autism in Fort Worth in order to better create and refine musical curriculum by working with a wide spectrum of  children struggling with language.  Arlyn has presented in several venues including the Texas State Autism Conference, the Texas Speech and Hearing Association State Conference, the East Coast Disability Summit, and for Joni and Friend’s West Coast Summit. Her work is mentioned as an example of the power of music in reaching special populations by Dr. Oliver Sacks in Musicophilia (2008). She is a major contributing author to The Special Needs Smart Pages published by Gospel Light (2009). Her book review of Jane Johnson and Ann Van Rensselaer (eds.): Families of Adults with Autism: Stories and Advice for the Next Generation can be found in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders: Volume 39, Issue 11 (2009).
